Cockpit storage space covers
2012-04-15

The old covers were made of satin Plexglass and when one of the upper ones broke when we stepped on it we decided to try to find out a better solution. First choice was teak but when we remembered that we had some Corian boards at home we decided to go with them instead. The manufacturing was easy, just measured the old covers, routed the edges, drilled a couple of holes and finally polished everything nice and shiny. After using the covers for one season we have found them to be much more durable and you don't have to avoid stepping on them as we did with the Plexiglass covers.

If you are interested in Corian I have some material left in my workshop that I can sell for a small amount.

1. Pictures shows how the bottom cover is in its place and the upper one is still waiting to have it s holes drilled.

2. Same as previous picture but from the front instead.

Material
White 12mm Corian from DuPont. Please visit the Manuals page for more information.
