Splash guard to the pantry

2010-04-10
We
got tired of the eternal splashing of dish washing water on the sofas. We wanted a solution that was both sleek, simple, easy to manufacture, and above all, one that did not require drilling into either the sink or the stainless steel handrail.

The solution below, which we came up with after searching the market for stylish fittings for long time which did not exist! So in the end, the only option was to custom design a solution for myself. The materials we used were frosted Plexiglas, aluminum and black plastic clips. Unfortunately there are no white clips available!

The idea of the the splash guard is, if necessary, you are able to move it to the left and right side of the galley if you need to use the handrail on one side. The brackets are designed so that if anyone accidently hits the splash guard it easily folds or detaches. This minimizes the risk that someone is injured.

The plash guard is designed so that you can always get under it with the dishcloth and can easily clean all surfaces by allowing you to tilt it forward a little.

Material:
White or green Plexiglass with a matte surface on both sides. Cut with a laser for the best possible finish.

Measurements:
Length 100 cm
Height 20 cm
Thickness 5 mm

Modell 1: 90 degrees corners

Model 2: Round/round

Model 3: Round/90 degree

Model 4: 90 degree/round

01. Splash guard in its standard position.

02. Splash guard tilted for ease the cleaning.

03. Back of the spalsh guard.

04. Splash guard moved to the side in order to use the handrail.

05. First picture of a splash guard fitted to a customer's boat. As you can see the corners are rounded as there was a general opinion that it would be better for safety reasons.
